Composition for Town and Country

  1. Vocalist walks from the countryside towards a town.
  2. When the hum of the town becomes audible the vocalist stops and listens.
  3. At a moment that feels appropriate the vocalist begins to sing a single note that harmonises with the hum of the town.
  4. The vocalist listens carefully to the ambience of the town, lowering their volume in response to any sounds that emerge (police sirens, trains, church bells etc.).
  5. At a moment that feels appropriate the vocalist stops singing and continue the walk towards the town.
